With Rani Mukerji and her long-time rumoured beau, Aditya Chopra, finally having tied the knot on 21st April in Italy, here's taking a look at few other love stories that have been strictly attempted to keep under wraps! But our smarter and eager beaver paparazzi always managed to dig out the inside stories! Sneak a peek!
1. Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif
The two apparently started dating during Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani days, and have been a rumoured couple ever since. Ranbir and Katrina were even clicked by the media relishing some quality time together in Spain some time back. The duo keep making headlines for their dinner and movie dates every now and then. The two, who are currently in Cape Town shooting for their next together, Jagga Jasoos, were also spotted hand in hand there recently. Even reports of their marriage plans too have stunned us on a number of occasions. But there's no official confirmation on their relationship status yet!
2. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone
Soon after the two were paired opposite each other in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's big project, Ram-Leela, Ranveer and Deepika became alleged lovers! Ranveer also ensured to praise his co-star in public and maintained that he was absolutely awe-struck with Deepika's super attractive looks. Their hot chemistry in the film gave much required fuel to the fire. The two hotties never talked about their affair openly though.
3. Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza
The rumours of Genelia D'Souza and Riteish Deshmukh's affair started doing the rounds right after their first film together, Tujhe Meri Kasam. The two never admitted in public that they were dating, always trashing the rumours. But much like the newly-wed B-Town couple, Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra, who also kept their relationship under wraps and suddenly married one fine day, Riteish and Genelia too stunned the nation by tying the knot in 2011!
4. Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma
Their super crackling chemistry in their first film together, Band Baaja Baraat, was rumoured to owe a lot to their off-screen crackling chemistry. The two kept the media guessing even after their second movie, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, released. Ranveer's very public appreciation of Anushka's gorgeous looks kept signalling towards an affair between the two.
5. Sajid Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez
Ever since she joined the industry, Jacqueline Fernandez had always been linked up with her Housefull 2 director, Sajid Khan. The two had never bothered to clear the air, and this made the rumours sound like reality. But few months back, the two allegedly went separate ways.
6. Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra
Though there was no official confirmation on this one, but reports of SRK-Priyanka's love affair took the nation by storm! Quite obviously, the reports spread like wildfire. Apparently, the two were spotted leaving SRK's office at odd hours. SRK-Gauri's love nest felt jolts and jerks, and soon, Khan realised his priorities! As a result, Priyanka was thrown out of a project she was supposed to do with Shah Rukh. The two haven't worked together since.
7. Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra
The two were allegedly dating during Kaminey days, but never talked about it in public. They always maintained that they were just friends but paparazzi smelled that a secret affair had kept the two together for a long time.
8. Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor
The two were supposed to debut together in Kaho Naa... Pyar Hai, but Kareena walked out of the film after shooting for a few days. It is said that Bebo's mother wanted her girl to debut opposite Abhishek Bachchan, due to which the actress had left KNPH. Anyway, Hrithik and Kareena signed on Yaadein after some years, and soon after, the air was filled with their budding romance! They always remained tight-lipped about the rumours though. There were some tension winds sensed at Roshan household due to the alleged affair, but the reports died down soon.
9. Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit
Reports claim that after Sanjay's first wife, Richa Sharma, died of brain tumour (1996), the actor came close to Madhuri, who became his emotional anchor in those needy hours. Soon, the two allegedly started dating. It was only after Sanjay's jail sentence for possessing illegal arms that Madhuri started maintaining a distance from Dutt, and the so-called affair ended there and then.
10. Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri was also rumoured to be dating Anil Kapoor at one point in time. The two had worked in several love stories together and grooved to a number of sizzling songs. Their alleged affair had a natural death, as the two always maintained the standard 'just friends' phrase.
11. Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha
The two are well in their 60s and 70s now, but Amitabh and Rekha are still a hot item! They were allegedly famous love-birds during their young days. Even after Bachchan got married to Jaya Bhaduri, the rumours never died down. While Amitabh never admitted to their relationship, the bold Rekha did mention her closeness to the megastar on a few occasions.
12. Mithun Chakraborty and Sridevi
Mithun was already a married man when he started dating the gorgeous actress, Sridevi. But when the rumours of their secret marriage created huge waves in cine-circles, Mithun's wife, Yogita Bali, attempted suicide. It was then that Mithun parted ways with Sridevi, and the actress went on to marry director Boney Kapoor eventually.
13. Raj Kapoor and Nargis
A blockbuster jodi during the 50s, Raj and Nargis were also rumoured to be dating each other. Apparently, Nargis wanted Raj to divorce his wife Krishna and tie the knot with her. Their relationship ended on a bitter note when Raj refused to do so. Nargis went on to marry Sunil Dutt after some years.
14. Dharmendra and Meena Kumari
The two allegedly had a short-lived but passionate love-affair. Meena, who was already an established actress, helped Dharmendra to get a foothold in the industry during his struggling days. However, the two apparently parted ways once Dharmendra became a superstar. Reportedly, the breakup didn't go down well with Meena Kumari and she became an alcoholic.
15. Dilip Kumar and Madhubala
The Mughal-e-Azam couple never admitted to their feelings for each other in public. But the alleged sweethearts, sort of, confirmed the rumours when they walked holding each other's hands during the premiere of Insaniyat. Apparently, it was Madhubala's father's disapproval of their relationship that had forced the two to go their separate ways.
16. Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy
Shatrughan and Reena had romanced in over 18 films, and were the most talked about alleged couple in Tinsel Town during the 70 and 80s. Though the two never went on record about their affair and got married to different people ultimately.
17. Rajesh Khanna and Anita Advani
It was only after Rajesh Khanna died that Anita claimed to have been in a relationship with the superstar. She stated that Khanna had physically abused her when she was all of 13, and that she had been in a living-in with him for over nine years.
